Promoting sustainable architecture and construction

The University of West London has one of the fastest-growing student bodies, both domestic and international, whom it needs to engage with a diverse print material portfolio. In this leading University for employability, 95% of graduates find paid, full-time roles within 6 months of completing their courses.

Services: Illustration, print design, large-format

Result

We’ve worked with them on a range of projects, including print materials for their research programme, led by The School of Computing and Engineering, on sustainable trends in architecture and construction. The work looks at enhancing the energy efficiency and reduction of emissions of buildings.

To help emphasise that a wide-ranging approach to sustainability is needed, we proposed illustrating lots of different buildings – from residential, commercial, cultural and industrial. We created sketches for the client to chose from, ensuring that visuals and content reinforced each other. The simple, flat vector forms create a simple yet effective visual language, many recognisable as iconic styles of accommodation.

Impact

The brochure has helped them to raise related trends, technology and funding issues with those in industry who have the influence to create change. In addition, the Alumni team, who own the project and help distribute the brochure, have used it to help leverage further collaboration from partners and funders as an example of the research and policy impact that the University has.
