Reducing violence against women and girls

ActionAid is the global organisation working to end poverty through advocacy, financial aid and campaigning. Their ‘Fearless’ campaign was one of the highest-profile yet, working to tackle violence against women and girls. They needed print and digital materials to help engage the UK government to work with other countries to show that violence can be combating with a combination of political will, female empowerment, effective collaboration and finance.

Result

To get both the hard-hitting facts and wider context across, we produced colourful, engaging print that profiled real stories of those affected by violence and poverty. It built on the charity’s brand identity by using bold photography, infographics and clear type hierarchy.

Complementing their digital and PR campaign, the publication created an easily-digestible and rich resource for their many audiences from policy makers to those outside the development industry.

Impact

Partly as a result of ActionAid’s campaigning around Fearless, the UK Government announced £6 million of funding for grassroots organisations working to end domestic abuse, FGM and child marriage. Staff praised the contribution that the campaign print materials had made towards cutting through to the crucial issues and engaging both policy makers and the general public.
